请问：关于1个美国彩金壳的问题？

有一种美国彩金怀表壳，既没有注明14k，有没有注明warranted  25 years 这样的字样，
请问：这样的怀表是不是实金的？

我感觉这样的实金壳，从照片上看，各方面的工艺细节，和我买的14k实金的差不多！
就是没写是实金还是包金

Gold-filled cases were made by sandwiching together 2 bars of gold (typically about 1/2" thick) on either side of a bar of base-metal, usually brass or brass-alloy (typically 3/4" thick). The 3 bars were soldered together under high pressure and high temperature in specially constructed ovens. The composite 3-layer bar was then rolled through high-pressure rolling mills until the desired thickness was reached. The gold layers could consist of 10-karat, 14-karat or 18-karat gold. While this process produced a thicker layer of gold than electro-plating, the gold content was still no more than 5-10% of the total case weight. American Hallmarks?

The term "hallmark" originated in 1478 when London gold and silver smiths were first required to take their work to Goldsmiths' Hall to be assayed and marked. Today it is used to mean a control mark applied to precious metals after assay (testing) by a legally authorised body that is independent of the manufacturer of the item. This provides a reliable indication of the fineness of the precious metal which is otherwise difficult for a purchaser to assess without specialised equipment.

There has never been an equivalent system of hallmarking in America and so there are no such thing as "American hallmarks". Watch case manufacturers stamped their own marks onto watch cases to show the fineness of the metal. The customer must either rely on the veracity of those marks or make their own tests. In the case of a well known watch case maker relying on the marks will be safe, but one must always be alert to the fact that the marks might not be what they purport to be: caveat emptor.

好像也有几分道理.哈哈.

谢谢你啦！我个人认为，没有任何印记的表，有可能是实金，但是可能不够14k，所以没有打标。通过照片和我个人的收藏，感觉的。。。

Gold Case Markings

If a watch case is solid-gold it will usually be hallmarked or stamped with a karat symbol or assay mark, like "WARRANTED U.S. ASSAY". Proper case-marks are usually a good indication of gold-conten----------注意这个“usually”,意思是有“例外”

This is just a guess but it seems likely that the mark is a trademark for gold of too low a content to legally call gold. If it were near 14K or higher it would say so. The marks for 8K and 14K over 8K are also well known so we can rule out those possibilities.

Similary if it were gold filled, it would also likely state this becuase at this time a gold filled case cost more than a solid 8K case. With some experience one can feel the difference between gold filled and solid gold even of low gold content.---------通过国外论坛表友的回复，推测不足14k的不能打标而且8k实金价格不如包金贵，所以无所谓打不打标

9k实金也能熔化提炼出黄金.

包金的做法是：2片14k的金片，中间加一个基本金属（黄铜），像汉堡包一样的，通过高温高压特殊炉子做的。参考3楼

filled=填充.通常叫做包金.
包金的可能不用到金片.还是应该用镀上去的.
镀层厚一点.如20mic 20年包金.

Gold Plated Jewelry:

Gold plated jewelry is NOT gold jewelry. Gold plated jewelry is jewelry made of a base metal (e.g. copper) or silver that has a very thin layer of gold applied to the top. The layer is so thin, that it can usually be rubbed off with a coarse pencil eraser in a few swipes. Some plated jewelry has a “thicker” layer of gold than other plated jewelry, but the difference is insignificant on the grand scale of things. When buying gold plated jewelry, you should consider the gold plating as nothing more than a coloring (an aesthetic attribute) – there is almost no inherent value to the gold applied. It doesn’t matter if it’s 24K, 14K or 18K.

I knew that American makers in the 19th Century were free to use whatever marks they felt like and that there was no standardization. What I find a bit odd is that a hallmark used on what had to be a rather common gold 18s Hunting case by a well known case maker could be so obscure. Seems like there should be a lot of BWCCo lion cases in peoples collections. When I was web-searching this, I could find lots of references to Eagles, Wheat, etc but absolutely nothing about lion marks.

Gold Filled 指的是将10Kt以上品位的金层用机械以高温高压处理的方式压延附着在金属基材（铜材等）上,也就是通常说的贴金.

看来说半天没用，还得买1块没打标的“金表”研究1下才好。

本来想进1块彩金没打标的怀表，研究一下。
结果，表店老板过年缺钱，今天不得不买1块金表，先给人家定金，好像我这500块定金能过年1样！
彩金壳的研究估计要等等了

美国18k金壳，60多克，说是金子价。
我也没仔细算过。。。
这表原来属于一个北朝鲜人，三水郡是北朝鲜的地名
哎，管他呢！过年给人家钱，取表回家
